Ryan, a California native, is one of the many Raleigh transplants to the city. Raleigh North Carolina is a great place to live because it offers all of the amenities of big city life: nightlife, culture, venues, sports and great outdoors scenes – with the look and feel of a small town. This city is so approachable, so friendly and filled with folks you are happy to call your neighbors.

Best place to get a beer

Easy. Pelagic Beer and Wine in the Person Street area. That is one of my favorite parts of town and after you enjoy a wide variety of craft beers and carefully curated wines, you can grab pizza from Oakwood Pizza Box, dinner at Scott Crawford’s Crawford and Son or a nightcap at William + Co or the Person Street Bar.

Favorite street to drive down

Take S Boylan Ave any time of year and enjoy views of the skyline and historic neighborhood vibes, then you can venture downhill into the warehouse district and feel like you’re in the heart of the city.

Best place to get outdoors

I think Umstead State Park offers the best hiking trails, but my favorite place to get in touch with nature is Lake Johnson. They have great trails, a boat house and rentals to get out on the water.
